26 Sep 2022 --- Balmain and The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) are entering into a licenced agreement to create, produce and sell Balmain Beauty, consisting of a range of beauty products that will appeal to luxury consumers worldwide.
The partnership, which is scheduled to debut in the autumn of 2024, aims to revolutionize the world of luxury and couture beauty via design, workmanship and a dedication to innovation.
Balmain Beauty drew inspiration from Estée Lauder’s initiatives which, according to Balmain, contributed to the development of the modern beauty industry.
“Research and innovation are the engines of ELC which fuel all of our brands. We are always inspired by the latest cutting edge science in many different fields, and bring this to the benefit of skin,” Nadine Pernodet, PhD, SVP of bioscience, global R&D at ELC and lead scientist at Estée Lauder research laboratories, previously told PersonalCareInsights.

The collaboration aims to advocate for social and environmental impact, prioritizing equity and sustainability.
“From the very beginning, the team at The Estée Lauder Companies made it clear that they support Balmain’s distinctive vision, as well as our goal of disrupting the global luxury beauty paradigm. Knowing that – and knowing that Estée Lauder is the paragon of excellence – well, I can’t wait to start working with them,” notes Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, who has led the brand since 2011.
Guillaume Jesel has recently been named president of Global Brands, Tom Ford Beauty, Balmain Beauty and Luxury Business Development.
“Balmain and Olivier Rousteing are visionary forces in global fashion. We look forward to working with them to expand Balmain and forge a new space in luxury beauty that clearly reflects the strong, inclusive and fearless spirit of the brand,” says Jesel.
Brands that boost inclusivity
Building on Pierre Balmain’s legacy is Balmain today. Rousteing has taken on a role in promoting an inclusive fashion industry while also expanding design possibilities. He and his team use time-honored Parisian couture techniques to expertly perfect the most recent 21st-century advances.
“For over ten years, my Balmain team and I have been pushing the boundaries of what is possible in fashion,” notes Rousteing.
“We’ve been determined to reflect the way that today’s diverse generation wishes to live and dress. So, there was no way that we were going to expand into beauty without ensuring that we had found the partner who understood and shared our outlook,” he concludes.
