Cellugy looks to increase production of biology-focused ecological cosmetic ingredients

Cellugy recently received €4.9 million (US$5.24 million) in seed funding, which it will use to ramp up the production of its sustainable cosmetic ingredients on an industrial scale. The biotechnology company uses biology to create more environmentally friendly beauty ingredients, such as petrochemical alternatives. The company harnesses cellulose-producing microorganisms that do not harm the environment and “perform better than their traditional counterparts.”
